Most of you HazyBloggers probably already know what THC is, especially if you have some sort of familiarity with dabbing and marijuana usage. Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is the active ingredient in the cannabis plant that gets you high. What a lot of people ask is how long does THC stay in your system.
THC can stay from anywhere from 2 to 90 days. Of course, you can’t expect the THC to be completely flushed out of your system in a matter of two days. The method of checking whether THC has been consumed is the variant that will produce different results. Some jobs will require that you take a drug test in order for you to qualify for the position. Some of these jobs include banking and government jobs.

Here’s a list of some of the drug tests that are available:
- Urine Test: This is one of the most common drug tests available and many employers will use this method. If you’re a frequent pot smoker, the test will return positive for up to 30 days or longer. That makes the urine test actually one of the most reliable marijuana tests available. Urine tests are often double screened to mitigate the chance for false/positives. Be mindful of the urine test!
- Saliva Test: This method is not as widely used because it can only detect usage from the day or within hours of usage. This method is also fairly new and I do not understand why anybody would use this test as it often comes back negative even if you’ve smoked a day ago. Don’t expect this test, but if you do, just be sure you don’t smoke the day of the screening.
- Hair Test: This is the scariest method but you do not see a lot of this. In order for a lab to conduct a hair test for marijuana usage, they will of course need to collect hair from your body. The hair could be obtained from any part of your body ranging from your head to armpit to pubic hair and all they need is about an inch. The reason why this test is the most scary is because it can stay in your hair for months to years. However, it can only detect it only if you are a frequent user. If you smoke once or twice, it will not show up in your hair.
- Blood Test: Blood tests are often scary and nobody likes having blood drawn from their bodies. Marijuana usage will show for a few days of usage. After that, it’s out of your blood! So blood tests aren’t that scary after all!
These things will vary from person to person based on many different factors that has to do with how our bodies differ. These factors could range from anywhere between weight and age. Similarly to alcohol, different people will metabolize the THC differently. Here are some of the factors that you might consider:
- Frequency of Usage: This is the obvious reason, the more you smoke, the more likely it will stay in your system and can more easily be detected. Someone who smokes once a month is likely to show positive drug usage results as someone who smokes daily.
- Metabolism: This varies between one person to the next and based on how fast your body metabolizes anything, this will affect how long THC usage will show through any of the tests.
- Age: When you get older, that means your body slows down. The older you get, the slower your body will be able to metabolize the THC. If your body metabolizes THC slower, that means it will stay in your system for longer as opposed to someone who is younger than you.
- Fitness & General Health: People who are healthier will metabolize things faster than people who have weaker immune systems.
- Urine pH level: If your urine is very acidic, there is a lower chance of detection. However, having acidic pee is generally not a good thing and you should get it checked out.
- Quality of the Weed: This may sound weird, but different strains and qualities of marijuana will have an effect on how long it takes for your body to metabolize it. Obviously the stronger and better ones will stay longer.
